Covid-19 procedures

Your safety is always our priority, not only underwater but also at the surface and in our resort and dive centre. At Scuba Junkie Sangalaki we have put thorough safety operating procedures in place to provide a safe environment for you, our guests, our staff and local community on Derawan to fight the spread of Covid -19.

To ensure you have a memorable, safe and smooth holiday with Scuba Junkie, the following safety measures have been implemented and are in accordance with the guidelines from the Indonesian Government and the Indonesian Ministry of Health.

General procedures

temperature checks

- Your body temperature will be checked before entering the dive centre or at the start of each day for guests staying at the resort. If it’s higher than 37.3 degrees Celsius then you are not permitted to take part in your planned activities for the day.
- You are required to inform the management immediately if you develop any Covid-19 signs or symptoms during the stay. If you have any symptoms then you are not permitted to take part in your planned activities for the day.

WASHING OF HANDS

- You must wash your hands upon entry for at least 20 seconds with soap and are encouraged to do this regularly.
- Cover your nose and mouth if you need to sneeze or cough.
- Hand sanitizer will be provided in all public areas of the resort.

CLEANING AND SANITIZING

- Common areas are cleaned and sanitized every 4 hours.
- Guest rooms are cleaned and sanitized every day.
- Used dishes are returned to the kitchen and washed and sanitized.
- The communal toilet is sanitized every 4 hours.

- You must wear a face mask at all times when outside of your room.
- You are only allowed to take it off to eat and drink and when changing into diving equipment.

food and drinks

- In-house guests are served breakfast on their balcony.
- No eating in the reception / common areas.

- Please adhere to social distancing of 1m distance where possible, furniture is arranged accordingly.
- Please leave used cups in the designated place

diving operation

- You are assigned a seat that you must use during the diving day. Your personal items can be kept in the net above.
- Masks should be worn as long as possible before the dive and put on quickly after the dive.
- Please conduct buddy checks without using the oral inflator, no breathing from the alternate air source, and check your own releases & tank valve.
- The same guide/instructor is assigned to you for the whole stay, if possible.
- You will be given a personal set of cutlery & drinks cup for use on the boat.

during dive courses

- A 1m distance has to be kept between instructor and students, and the students amongst each other.
- During briefings, masks always have to be worn.
- Masks should be worn as long as possible before the dive and put on quickly after the dive.
- The classroom has limited capacity and is cleaned and sanitized after each session.

CLEANING of dive equipment

- Regulators, masks, snorkels, BCD oral inflators and wetsuits are disinfected in a chlorine solution for 5 minutes, then rinsed with fresh water and hung up to dry (as suggested by Divers Alert Network (DAN)).
- You will keep the set of rental equipment during the entire stay.
